Too weird to live and too rare to die.: My opinion.
Lately I see a lot of girls referring to themselves as “fat” and getting upset because the world belittles said “fat chicks”. DUH! They are going to belittle you because you call yourself fat but proud, I don’t care how it is used fat is an ugly word because of its reputation and always will be….
I agree, if you don’t like being called something, then don’t say it or call yourself that. Don’t encourage its use, I am glad you talked about this Sommer, how people call themselves fat and complain when they are called fat, it is a double standard and it is soiling the empowering word “Fat”, which should be a loud battle cry of sexy confidence! “I am Fat and I am Proud!”
Though it is sad that there is such a stigma on a word that is just an adjective. I have fat, I am fat. I think society has ingrained in us this hatred of all things fat. Even if someone is fat, they feel ashamed and have this need to call themselves a plethora of other words in hopes of changing peoples perceptions of what their body looks like (which is pointless because they will use their eyes to judge your body, not your description). Why can’t we be proud of our fat bodies? Plump, chubby, thick, heavy, big, big-boned, voluptuous, ect; Bitch, you fat and you know what? That is beautiful. By embracing in the word “fat” and the fat movement we are shattering the world’s ideal of beauty and femininity, and by doing this we take away the power the world has to belittle and degrade us.
