*Here you have various WoC (women of colour) wearing their traditional, religious and cultural head-coverings. Please try and persuade me that all these women, from various continents are oppressed because they choose to wear traditional/religious/cultural garments.
As a woman of colour, I preserve the right to wear my garments religiously and culturally. I will not take off my headscarf or any form of head covering because your ignorance has let you to believe that I am ‘oppressed’. I will wear my culture and religion with pride, and shouldn’t have to be afraid I will face discrimination because of your lack of knowledge of my culture or religion.
*Please reblog*

I have to ask, why would one voluntarily choose to be in a nation which doesn’t provide them with the culture they feel most comfortable with? It seems bizarre to me to live in a Western country and yet demand freedom to be non-Western. Why don’t people who do not feel comfortable in the West move to a country where they feel more comfortable…?

You know what Gordon, the West has genocide an various races along with it’s unique cultures. Do you really think a Western country has any right to demand anything from PoC? Absolutely not, not after what it has done. If your country was made through the genocide of one race, and the enslavement of one … you have absolutely no right to tell me me to return to a country that I could perhaps feel comfortable in my ‘cultural clothing’, because I’m pretty sure any Indigenous person who comes across a white-men thinks exactly the way you’re thinking.
You’re thinking in a way that this country belongs to you. It doesn’t, and that’s the tough reality for most white-people to swallow. PoC never for get our motherlands, we know we are not from this land. But we are here now, growing in this land - just like you. You cannot exile us, without contradicting your beliefs. THIS LAND DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU.
